God Sings Over You - No. 15
Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you in His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Oh isn’t that wonderful? God loves you so much that He sings songs of joy over you. Because He delights in you, it spills over into singing. God is the pattern parent. We should therefore have the same response to our children. Do you love to sings songs over your children? It’s easy to get in the habit of complaining about them. Why not get into the habit of singing over them instead? He wants us to delight in them as He delights in us. When my youngest daughter was a baby, I created a special little song for her. It became her own song, which I sang to her all her life. I sang it to her when she was a baby, when she was a toddler, as she grew older, and even up until the time she was married. I would sing it to her when she went to bed, while she was playing, and when driving in the car. It was a simple song with a simple little tune. Here are the words... I love Serene Yes I do I love Serene Yes I do Serene is a special girl, Serene is a loving girl, Serene is an obedient girl, Yes she is! As I sang it over and over, I would change the words. I would sing all the wonderful attributes that I wanted to be part of her life. I would put in the song words such as – happy, good, peaceful, helpful, kind, faithful, precious and so on. As I sang this song to her over and over again, not only did it affirm my love to her, but also she was constantly blessed with positive words. I now have a song for my little grandchildren. Once again it is a simple little tune I picked up from somewhere. You can either make up your own tune, use a nursery rhyme tune, or a familiar children’s Christian song. Here’s what I sing to Rashida… Rashida is a lovely little girl, Rashida is a sweet little girl, Rashida is a precious little girl, Yes, she is! Once again, I change the words to deposit into her life whatever I feel she needs at the time. As you can see, they are so simple but a powerful blessing. Would you like to write a simple joyful song for each of your children? Sing over them with joy. You don’t have to be a good singer. I can’t even keep a tune! What amazes me is that two of our daughters became professional singers. How did they manage that when they had a mother who sang to them out of tune? I ask that you will give me the right songs and the right tunes for each of my children, so I can constantly bless them. Amen.”

Page 1 of 7 How would you like to have an "un" week? Why not try it? Here’s a different "un" for each day of this week. Check in each day of this week for a new "un" to work out in your life for the day. DAY 1 – UNHURRIED Hebrews 4:9 "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God."
Slow down today. Create an "unhurried" atmosphere. "How can I do that?" you sigh. "I’ve got so much to do. I just don’t know how I can get through it all." Dear mother, you don’t have to do everything. I guess you write lists. If you do, write down the most important things you have to do today but don’t be disappointed if you don’t get them all done. When you have little ones all around you, you accomplish an amazing fete if you only get one extra thing done in a day. You’ll find your children will all be more relaxed and happier when you calm down and get out of your frenzied attitude. In my mothering days I used to find that when I was hurrying the children up to get this or that done or get ready to go here and there, that that was when I had the most behavior problems. When I got off my "high horse" and stopped the great hurry, the children were happier and easier to handle. Now I’m not talking about laziness. Of course you have to work and accomplish your household chores. But you’ll find that you’ll accomplish a lot more if you do them with an "unhurried" attitude, rather than a frantic attitude. When your children are restless or irritable, stop what you are doing, sit down together and read them a story. This will calm you and the children. I love these lines… "You may have tangible wealth untold, Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold, Richer than I you can never be, I had a mother who read to me." Take a few minutes out of each day to enjoy watching your children. Watch them play. It is more entertaining than TV. Take some time for the special moments. I remember reading about a man of God who used to sign his letters, "Restfully busy." Learn to be busy with a restful heart. This is your right as a child of God. God has provided a rest for you. Hebrews 4:9 says, "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God." God lives in rest. He is not in a hurry. And He lives in you and you live in Him. Acknowledge this and start living in the rest that God has ordained for you. PRAYER: "Thank you, Lord, that you live in rest. Thank you that you live in me and I live in you. Lord, help me to embrace the rest that you have provided for me. Help me to live with an unhurried attitude today. Fill my heart with your peace and rest. Fill our home with your calm and serenity. Put an anointing of peace upon all our children. Thank you, Lord, for the rest and peace we are going to enjoy today. Amen."
