Corporations, large or small, need CEO’s like Joseph. He was not a wimp. He would not have even dreamed of cooking the books, shredding the files, falsifying the reports, lining his own pockets, bankrupting the business and causing countless innocent investors to loose their money. No, a thousand times no.

Businesses need real men, Holy Spirit filled men who by their very presence will cause God to bless their company and everything pertaining to it. The spirit of the wimp is all over the work place today and we Christians should be the first to cast it away. We must take a stand against wimpiness. It is time to hate it with every fiber of our being.

The work place is begging for real men - men who will roll up their sleeves and get stuck in, do the best job they can at the fastest pace possible and wear the biggest smile in the world. Away with this slow, slack, slouchy, sluggish and slovenly attitude. Away with all the grumbling, griping, complaining, winging, whining and murmuring. It makes your stomach want to squirm and throw up.

I feel like shouting, “Where are the real men of God?” God needs them. The world needs them. The battlefield needs them. The work place needs them. The family needs them and the nation needs them.

Stand up straight like a man. Walk like a real man, and for God’s sake, work like a real man. Get rid of all that soft flabby flesh. Away with all the pathetic excuses. An Australian friend of mine frequently quoted this saying…

“You do or you don’t,

You will or you won’t,

But there’s no such thing as can’t!”

Someone said, “Too many people are ready to carry the stool when the piano needs to be moved.” But the real men absolutely love to roll up their sleeves, spit on their hands, bend their backs, flex their muscles and wow, just see how that heavy piano gets moved! And it’s great fun, especially if your wife is watching! Let the wimp watch as well. It may teach him a lesson. You can get a great kick out of sudden bursts of manly energy. This is part of manliness – to get the job done. To do it well, do it fast, and do it with flair.

Let’s read the lines of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in his poem, “The Village Blacksmith.”

“His brow is wet with honest sweat,

He earns whate’er he can

And looks the whole world in the face

For he owes not any man.”

“Oh Lord, let the place where I am employed be greatly blessed because of my work ethic and because You are with me. Amen.”

Get ready for the next episode!
