This fleeing, cowardly spirit is sickening for it is the very opposite of what true manhood is all about. Let us all repent of every trace of it.

Under the previous government administration, moral wimpiness, lying under oath etc. revealed how deeply this sin is entrenched in our nation, from the top down, and through every strata of society.

We, the sons of God, can learn a lesson from the enemy’s camp. The Philistines exhorted, “Be strong and conduct yourselves like men, you Philistines, that you do not become servants of the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Conduct yourselves like men, and fight!” (1 Samuel 4:9)

If the church of today is going to count for God, we must regain a military mindset. Just as Israel faced many strong physical enemies, so we face many strong spiritual enemies that stand in our way from possessing the power, the anointing and the presence of our mighty God. Most Christians are content to camp just inside the gates of the Promised Land. God wanted the Israelis to possess every square inch of it. This takes the boredom out of our Christian life.

God has called us to be His army, but we would rather see ourselves as tourists, sightseers and even picnickers. Oh how we love to be entertained! What spiritual wimps we have become while we watch Arnold Schwarzenegger fake the real thing. Time and time again God’s people are exhorted to “be strong and of good courage.” Read these great words…

Deuteronomy 31:6-7, “‘Be strong and of a good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them: for the Lord your God, He is the one who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.’ Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, ‘Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord as sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it.’”

Joshua 1:6-9, “Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. The Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you where you go.”

Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!”

We are facing desperate days and desperadoes are needed to push back the forces of evil that are attacking the nations. Fasting one to two days per week is no big deal. It will put a sharper edge on our praying – and just think of the great results.

Away with all the namby-pamby stuff.  Away with apathetic wimpiness. It’s time to really stand up and be counted.

Get ready for the next episode.

COLIN CAMPBELL

STAND UP FOR JESUS

Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!

Ye soldiers of the cross;

Lift high His royal banner,

It must not suffer loss.

From vict’ry unto vict’ry

His army shall He lead,

Till every foe is vanquished,

And Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!

Ye soldiers of the cross;

Lift high His royal banner,

It must not suffer loss!

Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!

The trumpet call obey;

Forth to the mighty conflict,

In this His glorious day!

“Ye that are men, now serve Him,”

Against unnumbered foes;

Let courage rise with danger,

And strength to strength oppose.

Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!

Stand in His strength alone;

The arm of flesh will fail you –

Ye dare not trust your own;

Put on the Gospel armour,

And, watching unto prayer,

Where duty calls, or danger,

Be never wanting there.

Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!

The strife will not be long;

This day the noise of battle,

The next the victor’s song.

To him that overcometh,

A crown of life shall be;

He with the King of glory

Shall reign eternally.
