“Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”

Luke 18:1

Let’s be honest. How much do we western, twenty-first century Christians really believe that we need personal, national and international heaven sent revival? If we truly believed that the moral state of our families, churches and nation is as serious as it is, we would be on our faces crying out to God.

Do we really believe that serious moral diseases of epidemic proportions are ravaging the heart of our existence? Has our pursuit for the American dream of a home in a fashionable neighborhood, the latest computer technology, modern cars, great movies and cozy coffee bars desensitized us?

Are we too intoxicated to see that our modern society is being held hostage to the big guns of moral destruction and that time is running out fast?

Alcoholism, drugs, homosexuality, abortion, pornography and extreme sexual perversions of all types, to name a few, are eating away the foundations of our society at an alarming rate. And what about the destructive forces of the extreme left -- secularism, humanism, liberalism and anti-Christian ideology? These forces are hell bent on robbing us of every vestige of biblical truth. They are trying their best, with all the devils of hell pushing them, to make Christianity illegal in the public place.

From its very beginning, Christianity was never meant to be kept behind four walls. Our great salvation, that comes with the great commission, is meant to be as public as the word public could possibly mean. The virtues of true Christianity – loving God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself, are meant to permeate every section of church and state.

PRAYER IS THE GREATEST PROTECTION FOR OUR BORDERS

It does not matter how great our technology or how powerful our weapons. If our prayer life is weak, the enemy can sneak through our borders and attack us. The Bible speaks a lot about the gaps in the walls that can only be filled by intercession. (Psalm 106:23; Ezekiel 13:5; 22:30)

If God does not find men -- or someone -- who will stand in the gaps to intercede, the Lord will permit the enemy to attack. The enemy is already attacking on many fronts – the country, churches, marriages, homes, families, as well as the political leadership. Stirring speeches and great sermons are not enough to protect us. Strong armed border patrols are not enough to protect us. It is God who we need to protect us and His means of protection is through His praying people.

Who will stand in the gap?
