Page 6 of 7 WE WILL ANSWER ON JUDGMENT DAY The wimpy Christian will have a lot to answer for on judgment day as to why he wasted the power of God by resisting the call to prayer. All of heavens resources are at his command, but his wimpy, slack attitude disables his claim on them. Think of the battles that could have been won, the answers that could have been received, the people who could have been helped and the great difference that divine help could have made – if we only had the heart to pray. Oh the sin of a prayerless life. Samuel said, “God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you.” (1 Samuel 12:23) E.M. Bounds, the author of the great classic book on Prayer, states, “We are obliged to pray if we are citizens of God’s kingdom. It is outlawry, a high crime, a constitutional breach. The Christian who relegates prayer to a subordinate place in his life soon loses whatever spiritual zeal he may once have possessed; and the church that makes little of prayer cannot maintain vital piety, and is powerless to advance the Gospel. The Gospel cannot live, fight, or conquer without prayer – prayer that is unceasing, instant, and ardent.” What weak excuses will we offer on Judgment Day when our eyes are opened to the realities of heaven’s boundless store-house?
