Page 5 of 7 WE NEED MODERN DAY ELIJAHS Most of our churches are suffering from a severe drought that, in many cases, has lasted much more than three and a half years. The rain of the Spirit is not falling as it should. When the church is parched and barren, the world around remains unaffected. We are in desperate need for the rain of His presence to come amongst us, bringing repentance, salvation, deliverance and healing. Our glossy bulletins, highly organized programs and clever un-anointed sermons will not cut it. If we could only see in the Spirit as Ezekiel saw we would find that most of our churches, no matter what the brand name, have their own forms of Baal worship. (Ezekiel 8:16) We remain in a drought until God’s Elijahs arise to call the church back to a God-honoring repentance. The Elijahs are those who have shed the grave clothes of wimpiness and taken their stand with earnest intercessory prayer to bring the fire and the rain down from heaven. Zechariah 10:1, “Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone.” Some may question why I have mentioned prayer meetings instead of individual praying. It is my experience that if people have a serious individual prayer life they will also be diligent to attend the corporate prayer times as much as possible. I believe there is a serious battle going on for the souls of our western nations. They are fast sinking into spiritual darkness. In some western countries, you can be put in prison for speaking out against homosexuality. Bible in schools and prayers in many public places are illegal. In some places, Christmas manger scenes are illegal. The battle is raging to curb, curtail and sterilize all Christian influence and expansion.
