The Wimp Is Not A Strong Decision Maker! - No. 16
Page 2

1.   It is kingly to be a good decision maker.

Proverbs 16:10, “A divine sentence is in the lips of the king.”

This is what leadership is all about. In the margin of my Bible it says, “A divine decision is in the lips of a king.” There should be something divine about our decision-making. The majestic King of kings who reigns within us should influence our decisions. When we read the Constitution, set forth by the decisions of the Founding Fathers we cannot help but realize with great respect the divineness, godliness and majesty of the document.

2.   It is kingly to have good judgment.

Proverbs 16:10, “His mouth transgresses not in judgment.”

Solomon gained enormous respect with his divine judgment over the two women and the living child. 1 kings 3:28 says, “And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged: and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.” Before we pronounce judgments or bring a verdict on any matter concerning people or anything of importance, we need to be sure that we have all the facts. We cannot be biased, respect persons or be prejudiced. This also applies to the judgments or verdicts we make in our marriage and family life.

3.   It is kingly to scatter wickedness and bring destruction to those who perpetuate it.

Proverbs 20:26, “A wise king scatters the wicked, and brings the threshing wheel over them.”

It is kingly to stand up against wickedness when it is within our power to put it down. On the other hand, it is wimpy to take the easy road of avoiding conflict and allowing wickedness to continue unchecked. Are we kingly or wimpy when wickedness manifests itself in our family, business, church or in the nation?

4.   It is kingly to be wise and fear the Lord.

Proverbs 8:12-16, “I wisdom, dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge and discretion. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way… By me kings reign, and rulers decree justice.”

Through the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom, we reign. The fear of the Lord will help us make righteous decisions and this will affect how well we reign over the circumstances we face in life. It is wimpy not to make a stand against pride and arrogance. It is high time for us men to stand up and be counted.

5.   It is kingly to show favor to a wise servant.

Proverbs 14:35, “The king’s favor is towards a wise servant.”

We should always be ready to reward with words of encouragement to those around us who act wisely. We should be men who show great appreciation for wisdom whenever or wherever we encounter it.

6.   It is kingly to establish our life in righteousness.

Proverbs 16:12, “It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, for a throne is established by righteousness.”

We may not see ourselves as an earthly king with a vast empire and wealth, but each of us have some area or realm in this life where we can rule, whether it is small or large. Let our throne be established in righteousness, especially in our families.

7.   It is kingly to scatter evil with our eyes.

Proverbs 20:8, “A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters all evil with his eyes.”

Our eyes should show complete disapproval at the sight of evil. Revelation 1:14 tells us that our great King of kings has eyes that are as a flame of fire. This same flame should burn in our eyes also.

8.   It is kingly to be merciful and truthful.

Proverbs 20:28, “Mercy and truth preserve the king, and by loving-kindness he upholds his throne.”

Our sphere of influence will be upheld by showing mercy, truth and loving-kindness. Our great King of kings does this for us and so should we in our marriages, families and life in general.

9.   It is kingly to search out the truth concerning any matter.

Proverbs 25:2, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.”

God does not hand out everything to us on a silver platter. He wants us to be seekers, knockers and searchers. This is kingly. Wimps want everything handed to them like a baby.

10. It is kingly to faithfully judge the poor.

Proverbs 29:14, “The king that faithfully judges the poor, his throne shall be established forever.”

It is kingly to reach out to help the poor in whatever way we can. The wimp’s decision is only to help himself. Away with this self-centered wimpiness I say.

In all the above references to kings we see the importance of being a good and wise decision-maker. The reason why the wimp is not a good decision-maker is because of character flaws such as compromise, impatience, lack of wisdom, wanting the easy way out, failure to fear the Lord, pride and laziness.

It is time for the real men of God to start acting like the great kings of the Bible. In every case where Israel had a great king it was because they sought and followed the Lord with their whole heart. The wimpy kings failed in this area over and over again and received their just reward.

I pray that the great King of kings, Jesus Christ, will establish His throne in all our lives and homes. The world desperately needs to see Jesus Christ reigning through us. What a privilege we have to show forth such a royal and glorious King. This should make a huge difference in our decision-making.

Get ready for the next episode.
