Jesus Christ is described in 1 Timothy 6:15 as “the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords.” Revelation 17:14 and 19:16 reveals “He has on his vesture and on this thigh a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.” Because we are his body on the earth, surely we should exude something of his kingliness.

Revelation 1:6 tells us that “He has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father.”

Revelation 5:10 states that He “has made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

Romans 5:17 speaks of us reigning in life by one Christ Jesus. I believe this passage speaks of us reigning in life now as well as the future.

Oh, how we need to let the great King of kings set up his royal throne in us so that with Him we will reign victoriously over every circumstance that we face in life. When all God’s people let King Jesus reign through them, His reign will then be expressed through the whole earth. Our Lord Jesus lived with the greatest spirit of meekness and humility, yet the devils came out of the bound when He pointed his finger and gave them charge. The wind and waves obeyed His word. When He spoke, the dead came forth from the tomb. The blind received their sight, the deaf heard, the lame walked and all manner of sicknesses were healed. Wherever he walked, darkness was dispelled. Sin and temptation had to bow to His Lordship. His humility never weakened the authority in his decision-making.

Many think that kingship is revealed by our material wealth. But this was not the way Christ’s kingship was revealed. We can so easily be snared into the deception of the materialistic reign of wealth that we completely miss the true kingly authority that God wants to reveal through us. This kingly authority, which is based on humility, will overcome all the powers of darkness and bring this world into subjection to Christ’s reign and authority.

I deeply regret the wimpy self-centeredness of many of us men. Most of us believe that we have got it all figured out in one way or another, but do we really? Why are we so worldly and so powerless over sin, sickness and disease? Why is our prayer life so wimpy and weak? Oh that men would be powerful to pray! Instead we would rather sit around our TV sets like wet rags while the great kingly power of prayer goes begging. If the nations are ever going to be changed for God, it will be through the power-packed prayers of God’s people.
